What makes a good admin?

I think a good admin needs to be:

1. Active
2. Fun
3. Dedicated

I think that a good admin needs to be a firm but fair leader, is willing to listen to their members and is very active.

As an admin myself, I encourage everyone to have fun and I'm not too bothered with the rules. I think that having lots of rules gives the forum a really strict environment and that's not what FMHub is about.

Of course, there will always be simple stuff like show respect but then again, that's pretty much second nature right?

And yeah, you should definitely be friendly! That's always important. After all, they are YOUR members and visitors.

When you first start a forum, the administrator should be less strict. Then when the forum becomes active and popular, the administrator should set rules to have some order for a large forum.

Yeah, totally agree with slg. Not very strict, if the forum is about free talking.

^ Definitely. That's what I intend to do with this forum! Keep it relaxed, and keep it fun.

Of course, if it does get out of hand then there's obviously measures taken to bring back the peace!

Admins need to be fun, whilst keeping to their duties primarily. They need to be able to discipline users in a way that doesn't appear irrational. They need a good knowledge of members and their hobbies in order to socialize and befriend them. All users love a friendly admin who talks to the users.

Many things, one being (ironically) their Reaction to certain issues, such as a spam attack, or mass member base increase, then hiring appropriate staff

Then in no order:
Diligence,
Assertiveness,
Ability to communicate,
Cheerfulness,
Activity,
Dedicated,
Relaxation of forum.

Now that I look at these assets posted by Darren, I think I fulfil most of them, and my friends agree with me.

What makes a good admin is someone who will listen to members, not abandon the forum, will do everything anything he can for that forum, and lastly fight on behalf of that forum/that forums members and community! Also not being stuck up and power happy and being fair are major points to!
