Hi!

Here I'm to present you some tips about how can you start a forum community.

1. Choose a topic/subject for your forum:
If you want to start a forum you need to know why you do it. A forum needs to have a discussion topic, because about it members will talk. So, you can choose a topic that is known by you, in which you have experience, so you can talk with members if they want help. Try to choose a specific topic, that aren't so many on the internet, but in the same time interesting. Think about what your friends like or do usually.

2. Create forums and categories:
You need to choose a good arangement of forums and categories. These should be as organized as possible. So, your members can navigate free/relaxed on your forum. Create for your members convenience.
4-8 categories will be good for a community. Try to attach to each category 3-7 forums. It depends of how extensive is your category.

3. Select staff members & groups:
For start, you always have a lot of ideas for your forum, but you need to choose 2 friends that will help you with creating topics etc. The next staff member you can choose along the time on the forum, not from the beginning.

4. Choose your forum design:
Choose a design for your forum that fits with your forum topic/subject. It's very important to choose a nice design.
Examples of bad forum design:
1. https://i.imgur.com/wXqIO.png
2. https://i.imgur.com/ivQ1P.png
Example of a good forum design:
https://i.imgur.com/ZTgQy.png
Don't choose the images or colors that doesn't fits between them.

5. Advertise your forum:
For this you have a lot of tutorials on google or even here:

I love how this board gets a shoutout. Razz

Well done on this guide, Coddy. I absolutely love your articles as they display pure thoroughness. But I, alas, have found much difficulty in creating my very own forum. One of the main reasons is because I'm not a good advertiser. Not only that, but I have no one to help me with some coding. Whereas, should someone wish to help me, I would use this guide to the fullest.

Again, good job on building this most informative guide. Hope to see more of these in the future. Smile

Coddy...I could read these articles you write all day. They are great, and packed full of information for forum owners of all experience.

On the whole I agree with what you've said. Pretty much everything you've said is how I run my own forums. So I guess...I must do something right.

+1 again sunshine, keep up the great work Very Happy

Good info Wink For number 3, nice point, it isn't really necessary to have staff members at the beginning of the forum creation, just a few members to help you out and then you can proceed to get staff members to make your forum bigger Smile

Nice tips Smile
