If you were offered to be a moderator on a forum, would you accept? Simple question.

For me, it all depends really. Being a mod is quite a big responsibility, and is a lot harder than what it looks like.

Luckily I have quite a lot of free time during the weekends so I can cope with being able to moderate the support forum and administrate FMHub.

For me, it's depending on what type of forum it is. If I am an active member and like the forum, I can accept.

It really depends on how much I like the members, the forum and having the knowledge of what's expected to keep the forum a strong, thriving community. Which is, a lot of the time...a moderators role. If I don't feel that my personality fits in well enough with the forum, I'd turn it down.

Moderation isn't a role to be taken lightly, there is a lot expected of you, so being sure you can actually commit the time is a must.

I had to turn down a moderation role on a huge social networking games forum recently, as I just could not afford to commit the 30-35 hours asked during the day for UK members. 5 hours a day of moderation on a busy forum like that is a huge ask. That's actually more hours than I work my day job lol I would ideally have really liked to help out, but if you can't commit, don't accept. So I'm still a happy member there

Yes, I would accept the role of moderator here specifically. In more larger communities where I barely know my users, that is a case when I would decline unless I myself have applied priorly.

So, you see, I prefer to know all the users.

I don't like to be it, because you need to spend a lot of time on the forum..

I probably would decline because I have my own forum to run, and my free time I like to spend working on my other website projects. I currently have a Avril Lavigne fansite I completed about 6 months ago. So with that site and my forum it keeps me pretty busy in my "online" life.

If I have the time and been a member for a long time, I would accept a moderator position on a forum.

Pretty much depends on time , and on job that i will have to do

I have been a moderator on many forums. If I know I can help improve the site, and do my job the best I can I'll always accept any staff position. Though I find moderator to be one of the least working jobs compared to a packager, admin, reviewer, ect.

Well of course I am an administrator on my own forum as I own it. Though I have never had any other forum ask me to be a moderator.

I would do it as long as I agreed that their rules are not too harsh. Unfortunately on a lot of Windows forums they are very strict.I don't agree with a lot of their rules.

I recently was on one general discussion forum. Where the admin told me they removed my avatar because my photo was me as I look like in real life.
Apparently it is against their rules for members to use their real names or phtos of themselves as their avatar. Which is really stupid. If members want to use their real name and photo of themselves in their profile,I see no reason why not.Some forums are just silly.

I personally would be but that depends on the forum. I actually like doing the mod work itself and I have some free time so yeah.

been in this situation quite a few times and I have declined the position because of not being able to dedicate my time properly to the forum. I do Moderate at two select forums, and like Base said it's not easy and time consuming.

But to answer the question, it really depends on the Forum and it's owner if I like the person and what the forum is about, i might consider it.

It all depends on the community, if they're jerks then of course not, but like everyone said above:

Depends on the following:
- Amount of time spent
- Type of Moderating Job
- Active forum
- Enjoy my stay there
- If I'm active there.

For me it depends if the staff is friendly and if I have enough free time.

It varies alot for me - If I knew many people on the forum counts most, and how much I know them.
